La fille de la forêt

First Line

In the forest in the heart of a clearing
A painter one day planted his easel
In the stream flowing in the heather
He suddenly say himself looking at herself
So fresh, so pure this face seemed to him
That he immediately painted her reflection
And birds on the day of their wedding
Threw to the sky their prettiest song
In the forest having found the star
He had dreamt of like a secret treasure
I’m told his tore his canvas
Not as pretty as her living portrait
Remember the moral of my song
A great love is worth more than its portrait.
