“Par un matin je me suis levé” ("One morning, I Arose”) is a version of a traditional French song which has been in circulation since at least the first half of the 1600s. Versions of this song have been widely documented in France and Quebec, as well as Belgium, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Italy, and Switzerland.
