INTERVIEW EXCERPT
Janette:
"My father started out to be a minister. He went to Burr and Burton, and he went from there to Troy Conference Academy where he went for close to four years. I think he started in 1896 to go up to Troy Conference Academy. And my father had one very serious fault, he had a very - very - bad temper. He used to preach - around in Wells and Middletown Springs and once or twice he preached in Pawlet in the Methodist Church. Well, the last year that he was going up there, before graduation, he went hunting, and the shells weren't apparently any good, and he got mad - wrapped the gun around a tree and he told his cousin, who was with him, 'I will never preach again cause I can't control my temper, and that is not behooving to be a good Methodist minister.' That's what he did."
