INTERVIEW EXCERPT

George:

"We bought this place over here - the store and the house - in 1953. Kibling owned it. He didn't have nothin' here though it was a store. He had a few wormy candy bars. We took more rubbish out of here than we did anything else. It was quite a job, I guess it was. We came in here - we bought it in September and we went in there on Monday morning - had Floyd Troumbley and Leslie Smith and Clare, my brother. They went to tearin' the stuff out and I went right to paintin', right around through behind 'em fast as I could. They went to puttin' the new shelves up - there was no shelves or nothin' in there. Tuesday we had a load of groceries come in and Wednesday we was selling them. Three days time we had it runnin' - selling groceries right off the floor. It went pretty fast once we got under motion."
