PHOTOGRAPH - Irene resisted having her picture taken for a long time mainly because she was caring for her elderly mother which was an ordeal that lasted several years. After her mother died, she was reclusive for some time, but when Neil was doing her neighbor's picture (Shirley Hanley), Shirley took me next door and formally introduced me, and, at that time, she agreed to have a picture taken. She taught school in Pawlet for many years.
