Miscellaneous Notes

Edward died of cancer a few years after this picture was taken. He was the one who really got the Pawlet Project going, and the final work will be dedicated to him. Mary has continued to live in Pawlet since Edward's death, and she has not been well within the last year.

INTERVIEW EXCERPT

Edward:

"Of course that was always true to an extent. Lots of young people left Pawlet, have for years and years and years. I did - and many people did. Unless you wanted to be a farmer. That was about the size of it, if you didn't want to be a farmer, why you moved and did something else. Nowadays it's either a farmer or a real estate person. But I think the new people who have come into town have, on the whole, fitted in quite well so there hasn't been, I'm not aware of any great amount of friction between the newcomers and the old-timers. Some towns, and I think Middletown Springs is an example, there's been lots of friction. The people from the cities moved in and sort of tried to take over things. That hasn't happened in Pawlet. And I think the new and the old have gotten along very well. I think it's great that it's happened that way."
